Let’s take a deep dive into this extraordinary sea slug. Scientifically known as Costasiella<\/em> kuroshimae<\/em>, it thrives 9 to 18 meters deep in the Indo-Pacific, where it lives and feeds on Avrainvillea<\/em> algae. But here\u2019s where things get fascinating\u2014it doesn\u2019t just consume algae; it repurposes their chloroplasts, keeping them alive within its own cells to photosynthesise like a plant.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
